Robert Paul “Scott” Korb, is co-owner of Vita Massage located in McMurray and Regent Square, PA. Scott is a Board-Certified, Licensed Massage Therapist in private practice since 1991. Scott, along with the therapists at his practice, walk with clients step-by-step from injury prevention, to managing acute and chronic conditions, into maintenance of their optimal health and wellness.
The first area of expertise that Scott sought after was Sports Massage. Scott turned his knowledge and skills towards athletes in 1998 and became a part of the National Sports Massage Team. Some of the events that Scott has worked include the Boston Marathon, the Pittsburgh Marathon, the Olympic Triathlon Trials, the St. Petersburg, FL Triathlon, Steelers Training Camp, the US Open and local and regional collegiate athletic teams. In addition, Scott has done two rotations at the Olympic Training Center located in Colorado Springs.
Upon reaching his full potential in athletics, Scott sought after an education in Orthopedic and Pain Management Massage. Scott successfully completed the extensive training required in 2000 and has achieved a skill set that has enabled him to help clients from all walks of life reduce pain, increase range of motion, improve mobility and achieve their optimal health.
Also in 2000, Scott decided he would like to share his knowledge and love for massage and stepped into providing education. He was accepted as the Sports Massage instructor at a Pittsburgh based accredited Massage Therapy School where he remained an instructor for 14 years. Scott went on to receive accreditation from the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) to teach continuing education seminars for Massage Therapists.
In 2005 Scott passed his Medical Massage exam making him nationally certified as a Medical Massage Therapist. The client population had grown to seeing clients with chronic pain conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cluster and Migraine Headaches and Fibromyalgia as well as people who are pre and post-surgical.
In 2009 the Kinesio Taping™ Method was added as an adjunct to the Massage Therapy services Scott provides. He also went on to become a Certified Kinesio™ Tape Instructor in 2014 and travels the country educating Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Massage Therapists and Acupuncturists. The addition of this modality at the practice allows clients to receive the benefit of having clinical positive outcomes for 3 to 5 days after their massage treatment as the tape remains on the skin for that length of time. It has proved to be an invaluable tool.
With a proven exemplary Massage Therapy reputation which is compression, Scott has added a decompression modality in 2019 and now offers ACE Massage Cupping™ and Medicupping™. ACE Massage Cupping™ therapy is effective in addressing conditions such as inflammation, tissue congestion, movement restrictions, scar tissue, and chronic pain and surgical preparation and recovery. It has also proven itself to be effective in athletic performance.
This decompression technique mimics massage movements ranging from deep tissue and myofascial release to the light pumping movements of lymphatic drainage. Used regularly, ACE Massage Cupping™ therapy is a terrific approach to promoting wellness for our clients.
Scott along with the staff and therapists at Vita Massage are driven to be on the cutting edge of research. We value education and seek the highest level possible. Scott has dedicated his career to not only helping his clients but also to the advancement of the Massage industry through being an educator. Scott’s extensive massage training and multiple modality approach places Vita Massage as a leader in the industry in Pittsburgh and surrounding regions.
